Condensate Drain Line Installation

· No Comments · HVAC

There is a primary condensate line that runs from the evaporator coil to the exterior. This is the line that you want to see the condensate draining from when operating your cooling system. If this line gets backed up the condensate will go into a pan that is drained with an auxiliary condensate line that discharge to a conspicuous location so that when condensate is discharging the homeowner is alerted that a service call is needed to determine what the issue is with the primary line.

This is an issue I see about once a month during home inspections in Virginia Beach. The primary and auxiliary condensate lines are tied together which means the homeowner cannot determine if there is an issue. So make sure that your home inspector evaluates the condensate drains to ensure that they are properly installed.
